About Us

St Andrew’s International School is an independent, co-educational international day school with an enrollment of up to 400 students from PreSchool to Grade 12.
Our Story

Our school is located on a vibrant 35-acre campus on the east side of the island of New Providence in The Bahamas. We offer a challenging yet inclusive international education programme, supported by a superb faculty and staff team and excellent facilities. St Andrew’s offers over 60 community service, sports and academic enrichment activities for students. Our learners access a wide range of opportunities to broaden their interests whilst developing a care for others and a sense of personal achievement.

Delivering a rigorous academic curriculum that has been a focus of the school since its inception in 1948, our school has a low student teacher ratio and a curriculum designed to meet the needs of all learners, including the requirements for university admissions, nationally and internationally. St Andrew’s serves a diverse mixture of different cultures and nationalities, comprising around 80% Bahamian and 20% international students. The majority of graduates pursue post secondary study in the United States, Canada and the UK.

Our Learning Support Programme is designed to meet diverse learning needs across the school. We offer in-class and one-on-one assistance for students with diagnosed needs, tailoring lessons to suit each particular student’s aptitudes. At St Andrew’s, we work closely with parents and differentiate for individual needs while setting high standards, believing every student can reach their personal goals.

Our outstanding teachers are all fully qualified and experienced educators, many of whom hold advanced degrees. Around half of them have previous international school experience and bring a wide range of professional expertise to the school. All faculty are contributors to our ‘Creativity, Activity and Service’ (CAS) extracurricular programmes and are committed to meeting the diverse learning needs of all our students.

Our PreSchool classes follow a play-based, Reggio Emilia curriculum and we then offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) from PreKindergarten to Grade 5. Our Middle Years Diploma (MYD) Programme at St Andrew’s International School is based on the unique needs and characteristics of the young adolescent learner and is offered to students in Grade 6 to Grade 10. The (MYD) follows a wide variety of academic courses which lead to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations at the end of Grade 10. In Grade 11 and 12, students follow academic courses for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme
