Let’s Swim Bahamas
Let’s Swim Bahamas is a FREE learn-to-swim program for primary school children attending government schools in The Bahamas, based on the tried-and-tested Swim America skills-based curriculum.
The program is the brainchild of Bahamian Olympian Andy Knowles and his wife Nancy, who have dedicated their adult lives to teaching and coaching swimming.
Fundamental to the success of the program is access to existing pools in Nassau. LSB is very grateful to St. Andrew’s International School for their ongoing support and continued use of their school pool, starting with the pilot program with Thelma Gibson Primary School in 2008.
In the 2024/2025 academic year, free swim lessons were provided to 2,000 students in 14 schools in Nassau, thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers (including many St Andrew’s parents) and a strategic partnership with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, who provide additional personnel.
