Clubs

We believe that some of the most powerful, lasting lessons happen when students chase curiosity, take creative risks, collaborate with peers, and try something new. That’s why our clubs and co-curricular programme is such a vital part of the student experience.
Beyond the Classroom

Each term, we offer a rich and ever-evolving lineup of clubs designed to reflect our values of diversity, community, lifelong learning, ethics, and excellence. Whether students are passionate about science or service, football or filmmaking, chess or coding, there’s a place – and a challenge – for everyone.

A Culture of Choice, Challenge, and Curiosity

Our clubs programme isn’t an afterthought. It’s an integral part of how we live our mission to build “a diverse community of lifelong learners to be a force for positive change.” All faculty are involved in delivering the weekly club programme. Across Primary and Secondary, students have opportunities to deepen existing passions, discover new ones, and grow their sense of agency and belonging.

We offer a balance of academic, athletic, creative, and service-based clubs. Every student is encouraged to step outside their comfort zone—whether that means building a robot, training for a triathlon, writing a short film, or launching a community service initiative.

Why Clubs Matter

Research is clear: students who are involved in co-curricular programmes are more confident, more socially connected, and more likely to thrive academically. But beyond the statistics, the real power of clubs lies in the stories they create—the student who discovers a hidden talent, the team that learns resilience through a tough loss, the quiet learner who finds their voice on stage.

At St Andrew’s, we don’t just want our students to succeed in school. We want them to flourish in life. And our clubs programme is one of the ways we make that possible.

Primary Clubs: Laying the Foundation for Lifelong Interests

In the Primary years, clubs are about exposure, excitement, and exploration. We encourage younger students to try a variety of activities that stretch both their bodies and minds. Options vary term by term, but recent offerings have included:

  • Creative Clubs: Dance, Art Club, Junk Modelling, Comic Book Making, Young Storytellers
  • STEM Clubs: Lego Engineering, Coding, Little Scientists
  • Sports and Movement: Football, Netball, Swim Squad, Gymnastics, Multisport
  • Mindful Fun: Yoga, Cooking, Gardening, Board Games
  • Performance and Expression: Choir, Steel Drums, Drama Club

The emphasis is on joyful participation, collaboration, and building the confidence to try new things in a safe, supportive environment.

Secondary Clubs: Specialisation, Service, and Student Leadership

As students progress through Middle and High School, our clubs evolve to match their increasing independence, ambitions, and talents. Many clubs in the Secondary programme are student-led or involve real-world applications that extend beyond the school gates.

Some recent highlights include:

  • Academic & Creative Pursuits: Model United Nations, Film Production, Creative Writing, Debate Club, Entrepreneurial Club, Coding & Design
  • Service & Leadership: Key Club, Eco Warriors, Yearbook, Bahamas National Trust, Peer Mentoring, Diversity & Inclusion Forum
  • Athletics & Performance: Football, Track & Field, Cheerleading, Fitness Club, Steel Band, Drama Productions
  • Innovation & Inquiry: Robotics, 3D Design, Science Olympiad, Stock Market Club

We are especially proud of the clubs that empower students to take the lead—whether that’s running a sustainability campaign, directing a theatre production, or launching a new initiative based on their interests. These are opportunities not just to participate, but to pioneer.

Rooted in Global Citizenship and Ethical Action

Our co-curricular programme is directly aligned with our definition of global citizenship. Through clubs, students learn how to collaborate across cultures, challenge stereotypes, and engage ethically with the world around them. Service learning is a key component—students don’t just learn about global issues; they take action, whether through local cleanups, fundraising campaigns, or partnerships with organisations like the Bahamas National Trust.

This reflects our commitment to fostering students who are not just high achievers, but humble changemakers: individuals who combine compassion with competence, and who are ready to make a difference.

Inclusive, Evolving, and Student-Centered

Every semester brings new offerings. Some clubs continue year-round, others rotate to reflect student interests, staff expertise, and community partnerships. Our teachers actively seek student input, ensuring that the programme remains responsive and relevant.

And we work hard to ensure that clubs are inclusive: open to all, regardless of skill level or background. Whether a student is looking to compete, connect, or create, there’s a space for them here.
