Beyond the Classroom

A Dynamic and Inclusive Arts Program

We believe that creativity is essential to a well-rounded education. Through hands-on experiences in the creative arts, students build confidence, critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate ideas in innovative ways. Our program is designed to cater to all levels, from those discovering a new passion to students pursuing advanced artistic studies.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include dedicated art studios, a black-box theatre, music rooms, and a world-class auditorium performance space , ensuring that students have access to the tools and spaces needed to bring their artistic visions to life.

“This is a talent that has been discovered by the school. I had no idea he had it in him!”

Visual Arts: Exploring Self-Expression

The visual arts program at St Andrew’s encourages students to experiment with a range of mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and digital design. Guided by experienced artists and educators, students learn foundational techniques while also exploring contemporary and historical artistic movements.

  • Art exhibitions showcasing student work within the school and local community.
  • Collaborative projects that incorporate sustainability and cultural themes.
  • International GCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB) Art courses for students seeking advanced artistic study.

Music: A Celebration of Sound

Music is an integral part of our school’s culture, allowing students to develop their musical abilities through instrumental and vocal instruction, composition, and performance. Whether through traditional Bahamian rhythms, classical arrangements, or contemporary ensembles, our program embraces a diverse musical landscape.

Our music program offers:

  • Instrumental lessons in piano, guitar, violin, brass, and percussion.
  • Choir and vocal ensembles that perform both locally and internationally.
  • School orchestra and band that perform at concerts and school events.

Drama & Theatre: Bringing Stories to Life

Theatre arts at St Andrew’s empower students to express themselves through acting, playwriting, directing, and stage production. Our Primary Performing Arts room and Secondary black-box theatre provides a professional environment for students to engage in performances ranging from Shakespearean classics to contemporary plays and original productions.

Students can get involved in:

  • Regular school productions that bring the community together.
  • Improv and drama workshops to enhance stage presence and confidence.
  • Set and costume design for those interested in behind-the-scenes roles.
  • Drama competitions and festivals that connect students with broader theatre communities.

A Global Perspective in the Arts

As an international school, we embrace artistic influences from around the world while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Bahamas. Our students gain exposure to global artistic traditions through guest artist workshops, museum visits, international competitions, and cultural exchange programs.

At St Andrew’s, creativity is more than just an activity—it’s a way of thinking, a means of communication, and a lifelong skill. Whether students pursue the arts professionally or as a personal passion, they leave our school with the ability to think imaginatively, collaborate effectively, and appreciate the transformative power of the arts.
