Designed for children aged 18 months to 5 years, our programme follows a holistic and inquiry-based approach, incorporating best practices from international early childhood education frameworks. We create a space where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to ask questions, solve problems, and build social and emotional connections that set the stage for lifelong learning.
A Play-Based Approach to Learning
We believe that children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. Our carefully designed learning environments allow children to engage in activities that spark imagination, develop critical thinking, and build essential early literacy and numeracy skills.

Key areas of our play-based curriculum include:
- Language & Literacy Development – Encouraging vocabulary development and communication skills through storytelling, singing, phonics, and interactive discussions.
- Mathematical Thinking – Introducing shapes, numbers, counting and cardinality, patterns, and problem-solving through games and practical activities.
- Science & Discovery – Exploring the natural world through sensory play, experiments, and outdoor learning.
- Creative Expression – Engaging in music, movement, art, and drama to build confidence and self-expression.
- Physical Development – Enhancing motor skills through outdoor play, fine motor skills through pay, movement-based activities, and structured physical education.
- Social & Emotional Learning – Teaching self awareness, gratitude, empathy, collaboration, and independence through structured and unstructured interactions.
Our classrooms are designed to foster creativity, exploration, and collaboration, with age-appropriate learning stations, dramatic play, reading corners, outdoor discovery spaces, and engaging sensory play areas.
“We already see he is developing his critical thinking and he is now starting to solve problems.”
An Inspiring & Nurturing Environment
Our dedicated team of early childhood educators is passionate about supporting the individual needs of each child. They create warm, inclusive learning environments where children feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and celebrating successes.
We maintain small class sizes to ensure personalized attention and meaningful teacher-student relationships. Our teachers use developmentally appropriate assessment tools to understand each child’s progress and tailor learning experiences to meet their developmental needs.
Outdoor Learning & Exploration
Located in the stunning natural setting of The Bahamas, outdoor learning plays a significant role in our Early Learning Programme. Our young learners spend time in gardens, playgrounds, and nature-based learning spaces, where they develop physical coordination, resilience, and a connection to the environment through free and guided play.
“It’s been a fantastic decision: she really loves coming to school every day.”
A Smooth Transition to Primary School
As children progress through our Early Learning Programme, they build the confidence and skills needed for a seamless transition into primary school. Our curriculum ensures they are prepared for the next stage of their International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme journey, with a strong foundation in problem-solving, social interaction, and independent thinking. Students in the Early Learning Center also attend Specialist subjects including Physical Education (including land based lessons and survival/basic swimming skills in PK1-PK2), Music, Art, Spanish (PK1 and PK2), Ecological Studies and Library.
At St Andrew’s International School, we nurture young minds, helping them develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Through play, exploration, and meaningful connections, we provide the best possible start for your child’s educational journey
